Chef Kayleigh Kilbey

Head Chef Kayleigh Kilbey is originally from the South East of England, where she trained as a professional chef for three years, with a focus on classical French and modern British cuisine.  Following her training, Kayleigh has developed her skills with extensive experience in kitchens across the world, having worked in various locations across Europe, Canada and Australia before joining us in New Zealand.

Inspired in the kitchen by her mother from a very young age, Kayleigh was quick to progress in the industry undertaking her first head chef role aged just 24.  Shortly after this, Kayleigh was promoted to executive chef aged just 25 years old based on her professionalism and passion for working with food. 

Thanks to Kayleigh’s international experience, she loves to prepare a variety of global cuisines but has a real passion for Spanish food and tapas.  However, in the Mahu Whenua kitchen, Kayleigh’s dedicated focus is showcasing the freshest locally sourced New Zealand high-quality ingredients using her finely honed skills and sharing her passion for cooking with our international guests.  Kayleigh and her team prepare all of the dishes from scratch and menus feature authentic flavours and classical menu choices served with an international flair.
